- Demonstrated knowledge of Connecticut Core Transition Skills
- Demonstrated experience in aligning curriculum with Connecticut Standards for Transition Planning
- Demonstrated experience developing programming for transition planning in post-secondary education, employment, and independent living
- Demonstrated knowledge of local and state resources related to transition services
- Training, oversight, and supervision of program staff.
- Provide training to Special Education teachers employed by WPS who have students of transition age and requiring transition activities in IEPs
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community businesses, agencies, and organizations to develop job site opportunities
- Regularly check in on job sites, seeking feedback from management at the job sites regarding student and job coach performance
- Collaborate with area agencies such as the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS) and the Department of Developmental Services (DDS)
- Coordinate transitional opportunities (field trips, job fairs, etc.)
- Assist in the development and implementation of programming aligned with the Connecticut CORE Transition Skills, to include functional curriculum and/or self-determination and pre-vocational skill sets
- Consult with students and teams to identify strategies/tools to promote transition readiness, assisting teams with school and community-based learning opportunities
- Current Connecticut Teacher Certification: Comprehensive Special Education (065, 165, or 265)
- Three or more years of experience in Secondary Special Education and/or Vocational Transition Education/Services

Transition Coordinator
This position is based out of Winchester Public Schools; however, a majority of the work will be performed in community work sites as delineated by the student's IEP and The Gilbert School.
