Job Description

About the Department

Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty coordinating public programs; performs related work as assigned.

Position Duties

  • Implements and coordinates programs that provide services to the public
  • Assures program contract or regulatory compliance
  • Provides support and advocacy to program participants
  • Investigates and resolves client complaints
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports
  • Coordinates and collaborates with community-based organizations, public agencies, coalitions, schools and other appropriate facilities to implement programs
  • Prepares and disseminates informational program materials
  • May participate in the recruitment of volunteers, practicum students and interns
  • May supervise and train student employees, interns and/or volunteers
  • Performs related work as assigned

Essential functions include but are not limited to: driving; working with and around others; working with frequent interruptions; repetitive (hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder) motion for computer work; visual acuity (near and far) for computer work and working with applicants; color vision for working with computer screen; hearing and speech for ordinary and conversations and training; touch for computer work.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in  public/business administration, or a related field within subject area, and two years of administrative experience; OR
Three years of administrative experience; OR
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
Community Services Requirement: if this position is in Community Services, then a fingerprint clearance card is required.

Preferred Qualifications • Associate degree in Emergency Management; or higher • FEMA certificates in IS 100, 200, 700, and 800. • ICS 300, 400, and FEMA Professional Development Series certificates are highly desirable. • Experience with the application of principles and practices of emergency preparedness planning and emergency management standards. • Experience working on an Incident Management Team or in an Emergency Operations Center. • Advanced experience with Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)

The ideal Candidate will possess a keen interest in the emergency management profession, be comfortable working independently on assignments with varying degrees of complexity, have strong written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable speaking in public, and highly proficient with technology. The ideal candidate MUST be flexible. No two days are the same. Travel throughout Coconino County is required to meet the needs of our stakeholders and the public.


This position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive.

- Prepare and maintain complex reports and records
- Manage contracts
- Work safely and support a culture of workplace safety
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, community groups and other agencies and the public
- Follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
