- In accordance with West Virginia Code §18A-2-7b, Monroe County Schools will be implementing the "Stay Put Rule." The WV Legislature has determined that frequent teacher changes—especially in elementary grades—are not in the best interest of students. As a result, the Legislature intends to minimize personnel transfers between professional positions within the 20 days preceding the start of the instructional term. However, the county board, based on the superintendent's recommendation, may approve filling a position during this period if it is deemed to serve the best interest of the students.
