Perform various duties related to the shipping function to expedite all deliveries to customers by the request of the customer. Perform all tasks with safety and quality in mind and in accordance with established procedures and process instructions. Take necessary action to minimize delay time and maximize production.
What You'll Do:
- Perform shipping and receiving functions for all castings and other materials crossing the loading dock. Perform these duties in a timely and efficient manner and complete all appropriate shipping documentation.
- Follow part specific instructions for shipping (bar codes, certification count, etc.). Prepare bills of lading accordingly.
- Determine when shipment is ready for shipping, prepare the order and ship in accordance with the shipping schedule.
- Contact common carrier, paint source, customer or Grede trucks, as appropriate, to arrange for transportation. Compare actual casting weights to the weights of the computer Odessey program. Report discrepancies to the Production Control Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of all customer shipping instructions. Notify appropriate departments of material delivery.
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Communicate suggestions and recommend solutions to problems.
- Exhibit superior safety practices every day always evidenced by outstanding housekeeping.
- Extend treatment to all other employees of the Company as individuals with the courtesy and dignity shown to customers.
- Exceed customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail.
- Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures.
- Secure proper tools for each task.

- Communicate suggestions and recommend solutions to problems to provide for an efficient operation
- Can learn and adapt to using multiple computer systems (ERP, shipping, billing)
- Approach work assignments in a positive manner and function as a team member
- Perform other assignments as may be requested

What We Need from You:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Billing, order entry, or transactional system experience
- Strong attendance and ability to work independently
