    The School Psychologist is a staff member whose role is to improve student growth and achievement by completing case study evaluations and other assessments, serving as a member of the IEP and 504 teams, supporting the problem solving teams, and conducting psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains using problem-solving and standardized evaluation. The School Psychologist collaborates with teachers, school staff and families to ensure that all students receive a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. The School Psychologist is evaluated by the Director of Special Education with input from the principals and assistant principals.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • State of Illinois Professional Educator's License with School Psychologist (PK � 21) endorsement/qualification
    • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with diverse individuals and groups including students, parents, teachers, and administrators
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to take the initiative, work independently, meet deadlines, follow complex directions and adapt to changing demands, activities and work loads
    • Evidence of dependability, integrity and a strong work ethic
    • Valid Illinois or Indiana driver's license with no major violations
    • Acceptable results from background checks and TB test

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Administers standardized and/or supplemental assessments for the purpose of measuring the intellectual, adaptive, and academic skills and social and emotional development of children and/or determining eligibility for services in compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Collects and analyzes data related to the tiered implementation of interventions, utilizing a strong understanding of MTSS and progress monitoring.
    • Consults with teams in regards to the development and implementation of individualized education plans and 504 plans.
    • Maintains accurate and timely case records and written communications; and documents activities to ensure compliance with mandated requirements.
    • Interprets evaluation and assessment information to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and the student as permitted by confidentiality laws and Board policy.
    • Participates in multi-disciplinary conferences, IEP meetings and 504 meetings and assists in the development of Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) for eligible students.
    • Provides recommendations for Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and consults with appropriate staff members to ensure the successful implementation of the BIPs.
    • Serves as a resource person concerning disabilities for administrators, teachers and other school personnel.
    • Attends scheduled staff meetings and committee meetings as assigned and participates in applicable in-service professional development programs.
    • Keeps abreast of new developments in the field of psychology and current assessment techniques for children and adolescents.
    • Stays abreast of current legislative and legal information related to special education assessment, placement, related services and implementation.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

    • Requires the ability to see, hear and verbally communicate.
    • Requires prolonged sitting and standing.
    • Requires stooping, bending, reaching and lifting.
    • Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials.
    • Must work in stressful and hectic environments.
    • Requires the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
    • Requires travel within the district and local community
    • May require evening and/or weekend work.

    EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated using the South Holland School District Evaluation process in accordance with the provisions of the applicable state laws and policies of the district.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 195-day contract anticipated. Salary and benefits as the Board of Education. Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $66,000 � $73,000.
