Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - Geneva, AL
Ruskin, a subsidiary of Air Distribution Technologies, Inc., is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to support and grow manufacturing engineering capabilities at our Geneva Plant. This early-career engineering role is ideal for a hands-on Manufacturing or Industrial Engineer with a strong interest in process optimization, equipment performance, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will focus on improving manufacturing processes, supporting equipment optimization, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives while partnering closely with operations, maintenance, quality, and senior engineering leadership. This role plays a key part in improving safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance while supporting the introduction and stabilization of new technologies and equipment across the facility.
This position is designed with strong mentorship and development opportunities, preparing the incumbent for broader technical or engineering leadership responsibilities over time.
What You’ll Do
- Support the design, optimization, and standardization of manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Assist in evaluating, implementing, and optimizing advanced manufacturing technologies, equipment upgrades, and automation initiatives.
- Participate in troubleshooting complex production and equipment issues and help implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Support facility layout improvements, workflow optimization, and material-handling concepts under guidance from senior engineers.
- Support capital project activities including equipment selection, vendor coordination, installation assistance, and startup validation.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing efforts, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement projects across the plant.
- Analyze production data, KPIs, and equipment performance metrics to support data-driven improvement recommendations.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Product Engineering on process improvements and new product introductions.
- Promote safe engineering and manufacturing practices throughout the facility.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (internships, co-ops, or rotational programs count).
- Foundational knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, and continuous improvement concepts.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Desire to grow into advanced manufacturing, automation, or broader engineering leadership responsibilities.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Exposure to sheet metal fabrication, CNC machinery, stamping, or forming operations.
- Experience supporting capital equipment installations or automation projects.
- Familiarity with HVAC components, dampers, louvers, or related products.
- Interest in automation, robotics, sensors, or advanced manufacturing systems.
Work Environment
- This role is based in a manufacturing plant environment and requires regular time on the production floor.
- Exposure to machinery, moving mechanical parts, sharp tooling, forklift traffic, elevated noise levels, and sheet metal fabrication equipment.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
- Standing for extended periods and lifting materials consistent with plant operations may be required.
