ROLE:

Schnabel is seeking a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager to protect the integrity and performance of our work, ensuring the highest standards across all projects and operations. Quality is a core component of our culture, and we are looking for a forward-thinking leader who will drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. This position reports directly to the Director of Safety and Risk Management and is based out of our Sterling VA office. The role provides corporate-level support to project teams and operations, ensuring quality standards are effectively implemented and maintained across all work. This is a full-time position that requires periodic travel to project sites. Strong opportunities for professional growth and advancement are available.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Partner with operations and field leadership to influence decisions related to project quality standards, assurance programs, and execution practices to include:

  • Lead and continuously improve a practical, field driven QA/QC program
  • Establish clear QA/QC roles, responsibilities, and accountability across the organization
  • Implement structured quality processes (planning, ITPs, checklists, and issue resolution)
  • Maintain strong field engagement to proactively identify and resolve quality risks
  • Ensure quality requirements are embedded in project planning and execution
  • Lead QA/QC audits and leverage KPIs to drive performance and improvement
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions
  • Align QA/QC with safety and risk management to strengthen project delivery
  • Develop training, mentor leaders, and promote a culture of accountability and quality

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field
  • Documented QA/QC, field supervision, or Project Management experience in the construction industry
  • Certified Quality Engineer, Construction Quality Management Certification or equivalent
  • 7years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in heavy civil construction
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of specification standards regarding construction
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
  • Ability to speak, read and write both Spanish and English preferred but not required
  • Self-motivated, great time management skills, strong work ethic and business integrity
  • Availability for travel through ground and air

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

 

Pay is between $85,000 - $120,000.00 depending on experience.
