Position Description
The University of Washington Information School is seeking a UW graduate student to support research initiatives at the UW Institute for Neurodiversity and Employment. This is a data-focused research role in which the Graduate Research Assistant will work closely with INE staff and faculty to collect, analyze, and report on data relevant to neurodiversity and employment.
The Graduate Research Assistant will perform some or all of the responsibilities listed below for an average of 20 hours per week over the course of summer quarter.
Responsibilites
Conducting literature review
Gathering data
Conduct quantitative data analysis using statistical methods and software (e.g., R, Python, or Excel) to support research on neurodiversity, employment, and workplace inclusion
Prepare and manage datasets, including cleaning, coding, and documenting quantitative data from surveys or administrative sources
Translate findings into research outputs, including draft sections for reports, grant proposals, and academic or industry outlets
Other research related duties as needed
Compensation
Depending on summer enrollment, the pay for this position could be hourly or salaried.
If the hired applicant enrolls in two or more credits during summer quarter, they will be hired into the salaried Graduate Research Assistant position and paid on Schedule 1 rates in accordance with their graduate program’s Schedule 1 rates in the salary schedule.
If the hired applicant does not enroll in credits during summer session, they will be hired into the hourly Graduate Research Student Assistant (GRSA) position and paid in accordance with their graduate program’s Summer 2026 Hourly RA/TA/SA/PDI Salary rates.
TA/RA/SA/Predoctoral instructors and their dependents may be eligible to receive UW-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage through the Graduate Appointee Insurance Program (GAIP); may be eligible for one personal holiday and up to 10 paid holidays; and may be awarded up to 28 hours of sick time off (prorated based on FTE).
Note: This job classification is governed by a negotiated labor contract and is subject to union shop provisions. For more information about union shop provisions.
Requirements
- Current University of Washington graduate student (all UW Master’s and PhD students are eligible)
- Quantitative analysis skills, including experience with statistical methods and tools (e.g., R, Python, Stata, Excel) to analyze survey or administrative datasets.
- Data management and preparation competencies, such as cleaning, coding, documenting, and organizing quantitative datasets to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and research readiness.
- Ability to interpret and communicate quantitative findings, including creating clear tables, figures, and summaries for research reports, grant proposals, and academic or practitioner oriented audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a diversity of people, groups, and situations
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines reliably
Desired Qualifications
- Interest in neurodiversity, disability studies, employment equity, or related fields
- Experience contributing to academic writing or research publications
- Background in management and organizational studies, organizational psychology, social sciences, human-centered research, public health, or a related discipline
