    Classroom Paraeducator (Self-Contained SSC)

    School: Chapel Street Elementary School - SSC
    Hours: 32.5 hours/week

    Position Overview:
    The Stratford School District is seeking a Classroom Paraeducator to join the Self-Contained classroom at Chapel Street Elementary School. This position involves working with young learners who require specialized academic, behavioral, and personal care support in a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide individualized academic and behavioral support to preschool students.
    • Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans and collecting data for progress monitoring.
    • Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, lifting, and feeding.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and development.
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers.

    Qualifications:

    • An Associate's Degree or a passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment (Parapro) is required.
    • Previous experience working with students who require academic and/or behavioral support is strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with behavior plans and data collection methodologies.
    • Ability to lift and assist students with mobility, as well as provide feeding and toileting assistance when necessary.
    • Demonstrated patience, compassion, and a commitment to supporting young children's growth and success.
