Job Description

Summary:
The Restaurant Sous Chef will supervise all culinary phases, including receiving, storing, preparation, production, guest service, and sanitation according to Company Standards. They will provide outstanding service by maintaining high quality, product consistency, food and labor cost controls, and employee relations. They will accomplish this by delegating the workload throughout the kitchen staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee kitchen operations and staff performance.
  • Plan and organize food production and preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Train and develop kitchen staff members.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Collaborates with the executive chef to direct food preparation.
  • Helps design the food and drink menu.
  • Produces high-quality plates, considering both design and taste.
  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and supply management.
  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards.
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.
  • Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Comply with the company's drug-free and tobacco/nicotine-free policy.
  • All other duties. 

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of previous sous chef experience required. 
  • Minimum 1 year of previous leadership experience required. 
  • Must have 2 years of formal culinary training.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment. 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to lift- up to 25 lbs. consistently and 50 lbs. infrequently.
  • Must be able to legally work in the USA.

Education and Certification(s)/License(s):

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
