    Job Title:  Assistant Athletic Director
    Reports To:  Athletic Director

    Position Summary:

    The Assistant Athletic Director supports the Athletic Director in planning, organizing, and overseeing all aspects of the interscholastic athletic programs within the district. This includes compliance with regulations, scheduling, communication with stakeholders, supervision of events, and promotion of student-athlete success. 

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist in coordinating and supervising all middle and high school athletic programs.
    • Support the scheduling of games, matches, officials, transportation, and facility use.
    • Ensure compliance with district, league, state (e.g., OHSAA), and national athletic regulations.
    • Help manage athletic budgets and maintain accurate financial records.
    • Serve as a liaison between the athletic department and school administrators, coaches, parents, and community members.
    • Support the maintenance and inventory of athletic equipment and uniforms.
    • Promote sportsmanship, leadership, and academic achievement among student athletes.
    • Help organize special events such as award banquets, tournaments, and senior recognition.
    • Supervise athletic contests and serve as an on-site administrator when necessary.
    • Participate in the development and enforcement of athletic department policies and procedures.
    • Monitor eligibility of student athletes and maintain accurate participation records.
    • Respond to and help resolve concerns or complaints related to the athletic program.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Previous Assistant Athletic Director experience required.
    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
    • Valid OH teaching.
    • Experience in coaching and/or athletic administration, preferably in a public-school setting.
    • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing interscholastic athletics (e.g., OHSAA).
    • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
    • CPR, First Aid, and Pupil Activity Permit (as required by the state).

     

    Working Conditions:

    • Primarily works in school settings and athletic venues.
    • Frequently required to attend events outside of regular work hours.
    • Requires ability to travel between district schools and athletic sites.
