Position Description
Wally’s Dishwashers play a vital role in supporting kitchen operations and ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient food service environment. They are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment, as well as helping maintain overall cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.
Successful Dishwashers demonstrate strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. They take pride in keeping the kitchen running smoothly by ensuring that clean tools and equipment are always available to support food production and service, contributing directly to Wally’s commitment to exceptional hospitality and quality.
Responsibilities and Duties
Professionalism & Teamwork
Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and a positive attitude at all times.
Work cooperatively with fellow team members to complete daily tasks efficiently.
Follow direction from Leads and Managers, asking questions when clarification is needed.
Support teammates by assisting when tasks are behind or extra help is required.
Guest Experience & Hospitality Support
Contribute to a positive guest experience by keeping kitchen operations running smoothly and safely.
Maintain professional behavior that reflects Wally’s hospitality standards, even when working behind the scenes.
Direct any guest concerns or questions to a Lead or Manager promptly and professionally.
Comply with uniform standards and maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance.
Dishwashing & Sanitation
Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, cookware, trays, and food-service equipment.
Operate commercial dishwashing machines and follow proper chemical and temperature procedures.
Maintain cleanliness of dish areas, sinks, floors, drains, and trash/recycling stations.
Ensure all cleaned items are fully sanitized and ready for safe food service use.
Food Safety & Compliance
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, Company Policies, the Team Member Handbook, and management directives.
Maintain sanitation and hygiene standards in compliance with state and company requirements.
Follow proper handwashing procedures and use of gloves when required.
Prevent cross-contamination by properly handling clean and soiled items.
Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, or safety concerns immediately.
Kitchen Support & Supplies
Assist with basic kitchen cleanup, including wiping surfaces, emptying trash, and organizing storage areas.
Help transport clean dishes and equipment to appropriate stations.
Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing supplies when needed.
Notify Leads or Managers when cleaning supplies or dish chemicals are running low.
Collaboration & Other Duties
Follow the direction of Leads and Managers to support daily kitchen operations.
Assist other departments or special events when requested.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Kitchen Managers or Store Leadership.
Maintain flexibility in scheduling, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Position Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior food service experience preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to communicate and/or write simple correspondence.
Ability to operate kitchen equipment, use kitchen utensils, follow ingredient lists, and basic instructions.
Basic knowledge of food sanitation.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Team Members are regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
