The Platform Engineering Manager is a senior leader responsible for the strategy, direction, and performance of the enterprise’s core platform engineering capabilities, including Platform Hybrid Services (Azure and Virtualization) and Platform Services (Identity, Middleware, Backup & Storage). This role provides strategic leadership and oversight to M2 managers and diverse technical teams, aligning resources, priorities, and initiatives to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable enterprise-wide IT solutions. By advancing strategic initiatives, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and promoting a culture of operational and technical excellence, the Platform Engineering Manager ensures the effective alignment of operational activities with organizational priorities to meet SRS’s mission requirements and long-term technology objectives. Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the enterprise’s platform engineering strategy, covering hybrid hosting solutions and core platform services, including Azure, VMware, Identity, Middleware, and Storage/Backup. Provide direction and oversight to M2 managers and technical teams, aligning resources and initiatives to meet organizational goals.
2. Service Delivery and Performance: Ensure the secure, reliable, resilient, and scalable delivery of platform services across all domains. Oversee performance, lifecycle management, and incident resolution to maintain operational excellence.
3. Innovation and Modernization: Lead key initiatives, such as Azure migration strategies, AVS/VCF modernization, and enabling hybrid workload solutions, to drive innovation and achieve critical platform objectives.
4. Security and Compliance: Ensure all platform services adhere to security policies, compliance requirements, and audit readiness standards, safeguarding enterprise operations and data.
5. Business and Resource Management: Oversee budgets, vendor engagement, operational forecasting, and resource allocation to deliver cost-efficient, optimal results that align with long-term technology objectives.
6. Collaboration and Partnership: Drive cross-functional collaboration with other IT and business teams to ensure seamless platform integration and alignment across the enterprise.
7. Documentation and Planning: Maintain and continuously improve critical IT documentation, including policies, roadmaps, capacity plans, architecture diagrams, continuity plans, etc. to support organizational readiness and decision-making.
