Physician Assistant
Description
Busy Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Practice is looking for a Physician Assistant (PA-C). Prior experience in orthopedic surgery, trauma surgery or wound care is preferred.
The PA will mostly be responsible to conduct pre-and post-op appointments, see wound care and trauma patients, serve as first-assist on operative days, and round on hospital patients.
The ideal candidate must have:
- Knowledge of all aspects of reconstructive surgery, orthopedic surgery and wound care
- Ability to perform surgical consults and pre-qualify patients for the surgeon
- Ability to perform pre-operative consultations and prepare patients for their upcoming surgery
- Review labs, EKGs and assist in clearing patients for surgery
- Prescribes medication for patients pre and post operatively as needed
- Experience in assisting surgeries as a first assist, including suturing
- Ability to perform post-operative appointments for surgery patients independently from post-op day 1 to post-op year 1, and anywhere in between. Must be able to identify problems/complications and assist in resolving them
- Must be able to take care of wounds/chronic and acute
- Ability to train/supervise nurses and medical assistants when necessary
- Knowledge of explaining and/or discussing skin care, lasers, and injectables with potential patients is a plus, but willingness to learn is a must.
- Must be mature, compassionate, articulate, and enjoys patient care and patient advocacy, and has great organizational skills.
- Knowledge of ModMed EMR is a plus
- Knowledge of Spanish is a plus
Compensation is commensurate with experience. Salary position with variable/flexible hours.
