Summary/Objective: Performs general labor duties. Responsible for the maintenance of grounds, assistance to drivers and operators, and directing traffic.
Essential Functions:
· Direct traffic at Landfill working face and on Transfer Station floor.
· Assist drivers and operators to complete necessary duties as needed.
· Responsible for performing manual tasks to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, weeding, removing debris, planting flowers, and generally assisting with landscaping, often using hand tools and power equipment.
· Performs various types of physical labor activities such as, but not limited to: shoveling, fence building, sign maintenance, landscaping, tree planting, erosion control, vehicle maintenance activities such as fuel and grease, and performing visual inspections on equipment.
· Performs general duties associated with routine grounds and maintenance, operational compliance, and construction activities as necessary such as trailer sweeping or dust control application.
· Operates roll-off type trucks to dispose of waste accumulated at the convenience center and other assigned equipment as necessary.
· Promotes and assists in recycling and compliance functions as required including – refrigerator processing for freon and compressor oil removal and tires for sidewall removal for disposal.
· Must be able to perform higher level duties in absence situations infrequently – such as operating scale or heavy equipment machinery.
· Other general labor tasks as assigned.

· Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Position type and expected hours of work: Overtime is required.
Required education and experience: High school diploma or GED.
Additional eligibility qualifications: Valid Kentucky Driver’s License. Ability to complete company provided CDL training is preferred.
