Normal Work Schedule: Varies; Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, some early mornings, evenings & weekends
Job Summary: The Dietetic Student Assistant works under the supervision of a registered dietitian, gaining practical experience with food service in a college setting. Assists in controlling the flow of accommodations for the summer Bama Bound sessions. Shares information with parents, visitors and students. Attends orientation events and dinners for parents/students.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama student. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift and move equipment.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skill. Quick learner. Dependable.
Preferred Qualifications: Nutrition major with hands-on experience in Dining Services through structured academic rotation as part of a class project.
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
