Job Description

About the Department

The Adams County Workforce and Business Center (WBC) is seeking a candidate that will work closely with various WBC service delivery teams to identify and match job seekers with opportunities that result in milestone achievements and measurable outcomes for long-term success.   Important responsibilities of this position include providing individual and targeted assistance with professional development and preparation for employment, identifying and connecting job seekers with skills training, work-based training and/or placement opportunities. Duties are documented accurately and delivered with high quality service to determine highest need in a timely manner.  
 
The purpose of the WBC is to exist as the source of security to passionately serve our community in successfully becoming the best version of themselves.

Position Duties

  • Meet individually with job seekers to determine skill level, industry experience, and education/training needs.
  • Conduct assessments of employment barriers to provide career guidance and supportive services to community resources to job seekers.
  • Refer job seekers to job openings; provide follow-up on job seekers referred to job openings; assist with resume preparation and interview skills.
  • Responsible for the development and progression of individualized career plans to assist job seekers with personal and career growth.
  • Input and access information from automated computer systems; record and maintain activity statistics and job seeker records; review reports, reply to audits to assure compliance with files for applicable WBC programs/grants., 
  • Participate in the development and/or facilitation of job search workshops. 
  • Attend community outreach events to match job seekers with WBC opportunities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ensures confidentiality of all program files and records, maintaining compliance with Federal, State, and county regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures. 
  • Complete assignments in various data bases. 
  • Organizational skills; ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Work flexible hours at any Adams County locations as required to meet the business need. Locations are in Westminster, Brighton and North Aurora areas
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability with PC’s, MS Office, Internet skills, keyboarding skills, and ability to operate office equipment. 
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills with job seekers, co-workers, and other team members at all levels.
  • Demonstrate proper phone and email etiquette. 
  • Ability to use critical thinking methods to prioritize, make analytical decisions and problem solve. 
  • Ability to follow instructions to complete clear and concise reports. 
  • Ability to interact with diverse cultures, populations and individuals with multiple barriers. 
  • Ability to effectively interpret and communicate WBC and County directives and procedures; ability to follow oral and written instructions, procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 

Other Qualifications

Experience: 

  • Two years related experience in working with workforce development, case management, training, vocational rehabilitation, mentoring, advising, or related field. 
  • Experience in public speaking to communicate within individual or group settings is highly desirable. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required. 
  • Experience with Connecting Colorado and CBMS highly desirable, proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint). 
  • Experience working with businesses, employers, community partners, low income, unemployed, under-employed and/or diverse populations is preferred.
 
 Education and Training:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Human Services, Career Counseling, Educational/Guidance Counseling or a related field.
OR
  • Demonstrated two years of experience related to the Essential Duties, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities may be substituted. 
 
  • License and Certificate: Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license. 
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
