About the Department
The Curriculum and Assessment Specialist supports institutional effectiveness by advancing curriculum development, assessment practices, and accreditation efforts. This role collaborates across academic and administrative units to enhance teaching, learning, and data-informed decision-making. The position provides technical, analytical, and strategic support aligned with institutional priorities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Position Duties
Serve as an active and collaborative member of the institutional leadership team.
Work across academic and non-academic units to support institutional priorities and strategic initiatives.
Contribute to a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, and continuous improvement.
Provide responsive, high-quality support to internal stakeholders.
Assist academic programs in developing and refining curriculum, ensuring appropriate scope, sequence, and alignment with accreditation standards.
Provide faculty training and support in curriculum design, assessment practices, and the effective use of institutional data.
Facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration to enhance teaching and learning practices.
Guide faculty and programs in integrating technology to improve student outcomes.
Support the use of data to inform curriculum improvements, instructional practices, and program review processes.
Assist faculty and staff in identifying appropriate data collection methods and interpreting results for academic unit reviews
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of accreditation activities and reporting.
Support the development and implementation of the institutional strategic plan initiatives in collaboration with institutional leadership.
Provide technical and analytical support for accreditation, assessment, and university-wide initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of institutional priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS
- Basic database and spreadsheet experience
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to facilitate professional development with individuals and groups
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff, faculty, and administrators
- Detail-oriented planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work productively in an independent environment
Education:
- Master’s Degree required, Doctorate preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education (or a parallel field) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
- Excellent skills in written and oral communication involving the presentation of both quantitative and qualitative material and analyses;
- Experience with higher education electronic record management systems;
- Proficiency in statistical analysis, use of statistical software, and data visualization and management. Programs would include examples such as SPSS, R, NVivo, PSPP, Power BI, Tableau, Access, Excel;
- Ability to perform duties independently with limited supervision;
- Proficiency with of a variety of software packages including Google Drive and Applications and Microsoft Office Suite;
- Experience with the accreditation process and familiarity with learning outcomes assessment.
