All About the EMT/Security Officer Role

The Security Guard / EMT plays a dual role in maintaining a safe and secure environment while providing emergency medical care when needed. This position is responsible for monitoring park activity, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, and delivering first aid and medical assistance. As both a safety presence and first responder, this role is essential to ensuring the wellbeing of guests and team members throughout daily operations and special events.

 

Your Role at Belmont Park

As a Security Guard / EMT, you help ensure Belmont Park remains a safe, secure, and enjoyable place for everyone. Through active patrols, monitoring park activity, and responding to emergencies, you play a critical role in protecting people and property while delivering a calm, professional, and supportive guest experience.

 

What You'll Be Doing

Operations / Core Responsibilities

  • Enforce all park rules, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor for suspicious activity and respond appropriately
  • Observe security cameras and report unusual activity or alarms
  • Maintain awareness of radio communication and respond promptly
  • Protect the property of guests, team members, vendors, and contractors

Guest Interaction & Experience

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members
  • Provide directions, assistance, and support to enhance the guest experience
  • Address undesired conduct in a calm, respectful, and professional manner
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the park

Patrol & Surveillance

  • Conduct routine patrols on foot or by vehicle across assigned areas
  • Perform walkthroughs of park facilities to ensure safety and compliance
  • Operate effectively in varying weather conditions

Emergency Response

  • Respond quickly and effectively to medical incidents, fire, and safety hazards
  • Administer first aid and provide medical assistance within scope of training
  • Coordinate emergency response efforts in a calm and professional manner
  • Assist local law enforcement and emergency services when needed

Incident Management & Reporting

  • Accurately document all safety and security incidents
  • Complete and submit reports in a timely manner
  • Participate in investigations and follow-up as required

Asset & Property Management

  • Safeguard and manage lost and found items
  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of recovered property

Safety & Compliance

  • Support and promote safe work practices throughout the park
  • Apprehend violators when necessary, including on-foot pursuit

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with team members and leadership to support park operations
  • Communicate incidents, concerns, and updates clearly and effectively
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Valid EMT certification required
  • Previous security or emergency response experience preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours daily)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and climbing
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and environments
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts

Summary

Physical Requirements: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand/walk (up to 8 hours daily); regularly use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk and hear
  • Must be able to perform major life activities: standing, lifting and bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and sitting
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations with or without reasonable accommodation
  • The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace. Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges with or without reasonable accommodation
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Conduct night/overnight patrols as scheduled. 

 

Skills/Qualifications:  

  • Must be 21 years or older 
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent, or be on track to graduate in current year 
  • Must have a valid CA BSIS Gard Card and up to date training. Extra training certificates are a plus 

  • Must have current approved California EMT certification 

Expected Hours of Work:  
Flexible work hours, including but not exclusive to busiest times, weekends, holidays, and nights 

 

Testing/Work Authorization:  

  • Pre-Employment Drug Test and background check Required. 
  • Valid U.S. work authorization required.
