Job Title:  Bus Driver POOL for the 26/27 School Year


Location:  District


Reports To:  Transportation Supervisor


Hours:  Varied


Hourly Wage:  $15.84 - $21.07/hr Depending on Experience

Job Summary:


 


Operate a school bus by assessing traffic and road conditions, monitoring student behavior and other factors necessary to safely deliver student passengers to and from school by adhering to state laws and school district policies. Drivers will be evaluated on driving and student management skills annually.  


 


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED

  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below

  • Positive public relations skills

  • Hold Class B with  P & S endorsements or the ability to obtain a CDL Class B with P & S endorsements (Training available - paid) 

  • Have a clean driving record

  • Pass a drug and alcohol test, criminal background check, and physical examination           

  • Be willing to attend and satisfactorily complete at least 30 hours of training as required in the State Transportation Manual

  • Ability to use CB radio within the law of the FCC regulations. 


 


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:



  1. Perform such school-related duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.

  2. Abide by all laws, rules, and regulations in the State of Idaho Transportation Manual.

  3. Maintain such books and records as assigned by the Transportation Director.

  4. Report all accidents immediately to Dispatch and the Transportation Director.

  5. Follow the time schedule for pick-up and delivery of children as written on your route sheets.

  6. Informs students about safety features of the bus, bus evacuations, and safe behavior practices. 

  7. Communicate effectively with the school staff and the public.

  8. Perform a required pre-trip several times daily for the safe operation of the school bus.  

  9. Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the school bus. 

  10. Stop at all railroad crossings and have visual and audible proof that it is safe to cross before proceeding.

  11. Abide by all laws when loading and unloading passengers.

  12. Report delays to dispatch. 

  13. Maintain reasonable disciplinary control and follow proper procedures through the citation system.

  14. Know and follow district policy which can be found on the district's website and chain of command.

  15. Work with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner.

  16. Presents a neat, clean, and courteous appearance to parents, students, school personnel, and the general public.

  17. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.

  18. Perform other duties as assigned.  


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 


Must be alert at all times and able to respond to emergencies. Must be able to lift and carry a child up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate the special equipment on the school bus (wheelchair lift, wheelchair tie-downs, car seat, etc.). No use of a cell phone on the bus unless there is an emergency.
