About the Department

The Outreach & Recruitment Advisor is responsible for developing, supporting, and executing the College’s outreach and recruitment strategies to increase enrollment and strengthen community engagement. This position reports to the Director of Outreach and Recruitment and collaborates closely with Enrollment Services, Entry Advising, Academic Affairs, and external partners such as community-based organizations and K–12 institutions.

The Advisor leads new student recruitment efforts and promotes access to higher education for prospective students from all backgrounds. The position requires learning and clearly communicating essential information about the Highline College, including the application process, enrollment steps, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, student support services, and instructional program offerings.

Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are essential. Highline College is engaged in developing a long-term strategic enrollment management plan, and Outreach and Recruitment plays a central role in advancing this work in alignment with other college programs.

This role includes frequent public engagement and requires the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and families from a wide range of racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried, overtime-eligible position.

Work Schedule & Travel Requirements:
The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, standard business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support outreach events, recruitment activities, and community engagement efforts. This position requires regular local travel to high schools, community organizations, and partner sites (within a 30 mile radius of Highline College). Travel may include use of a personal vehicle, and mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with College policy.

Position Duties

Reporting to the Director of Outreach & Recruitment, the Outreach & Recruitment Advisor will:

  • Collaborate with community-based organizations and K–12 institutions to support recruitment, enrollment, and outreach initiatives;
  • Develop and implement culturally responsive and inclusive outreach programming, in collaboration with internal partners, to engage diverse populations including youth (K–12), adult learners, and community members;
  • Recruit new students to Highline College;
  • Support prospective students and their families in navigating the College’s enrollment process and instructional programs;
  • Ensure seamless hand-off of prospective students to Admissions, Entry Advising, and Academic/program Advisors;
  • Utilize the College’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to support recruitment activities and maintain communication with prospective students;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of outreach and recruitment efforts, report outcomes, and implement continuous improvement strategies;
  • Communicate Highline College degree and program offerings to prospective students and families;
  • Assist prospective students in navigating financial aid and scholarship processes;
  • Support recruitment events both on and off campus;
  • Prepare and deliver public presentations appropriate for diverse audiences;
  • Participate in department and college meetings;
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to support Outreach & Recruitment efforts;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associate degree or higher; AND
  • Two (2) years of marketing, recruitment, strategic planning, or related experience. (Professional experience may substitute for education requirements at the discretion of the College); AND
  • Valid driver’s license required. 
Desired Qualification:
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred);
  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software;
  • Experience with student recruitment;
  • Previous experience working at a college or university;
  • Experience serving multilingual communities.
