The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department in a long-term care facility. This role ensures a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors, in compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) regulations and federal guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily housekeeping operations
- Assign duties and inspect work of housekeeping staff
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards, OSHA, and CDC guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms, common areas, and administrative spaces
- Train, schedule, and evaluate housekeeping personnel
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; order as needed
- Respond promptly to resident, family, and staff concerns or requests
- Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials and waste
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) programs
- Maintain documentation and records required by state and federal regulations
Regulatory Compliance (Illinois LTC Specific)
- Follow IDPH sanitation and infection control standards
- Ensure compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) housekeeping and environmental services requirements
- Support facility readiness for inspections and surveys
- Enforce safety standards consistent with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Qualifications
- 2+ years of housekeeping experience in healthcare or long-term care
- Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of infection control practices in healthcare settings
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift (up to 50 lbs)
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions
- Frequent use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
Work Environment

Preferred Skills
