Summary:

This position is part of a group of Team Members who are committed to supplying cost competitive, high-quality products by taking care of people, achieving operational and environmental excellence, managing risks, and exceeding customer expectations in a workplace that provides for individual dignity and respect. This position is responsible for all aspects of the business at the farm level, including the production of a high-quality product in a timely manner while maintaining a safe workplace and clean environment. Additionally, this position is responsible for the training of the Associate Operations.

 

  

Responsibilities:

Leadership: Direct and provide leadership to all farm Team Members.

Cost and Production Management: Manage all costs and production volumes at the farm level, including spending and budgeting.

 

Safety and Biosecurity: Ensure the safety of all farm Team Members and the biosecurity of the unit and farm.

 

Environmental Compliance: Handle all environmental issues, including pit and lagoon level compliance, water and air quality, waste removal, and reporting.

 

Customer Satisfaction: Ensure customer satisfaction, including PQA and facility and dwelling maintenance.

 

Policy Implementation: Implement and monitor policies and procedures, including standard operating guidelines and human resources policies and procedures.

 

 

Reporting: Report production numbers, environmental numbers, safety issues, accidents, and human resources issues timely and accurately.

 

Other Duties: Perform any other duties that may arise.

 

 

 

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

 

Experience: 1+ years of experience in live swine production; a complete knowledge of animal flow, processing, ventilation, feeding, and vaccination protocols.

 

 Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.

 

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual a plus

 

Special Skills: Ability to build working relationships with other Team Members that foster open communication, increased productivity, and safety.

 

Supervisory: None

 

 

Travel: Must have a valid driver's license.

 

 

 

Biosecurity: The jobsite is a biosecurity environment, which requires showering before entering the facility and could require multiple showers during the workday. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any other porcine species. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.

 

Physical Requirements: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

 

Personal Protective Equipment Required: Team Member is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.
