Job Summary:




The Department of Ambulatory Dialysis at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Medical Instrumentation Specialist / Dialysis Machine Technician. The successful candidate will:



  • Prepare and repair Hemodialysis equipment for treatments and use; monitor calibrations of machines, related equipment as per manufactures guidelines:

    • responsible for maintenance, emergency repairs and servicing of equipment.

    • disassemble equipment and repair/replace defective parts: reassemble, adjust and calibrate precision components.

    • perform analysis and isolate of mechanical or electronic malfunctions.

    • inspect and test equipment and apparatus to insure specified functional qualities.



  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality control.

  • Conduct staff teaching and in-services;

    • cleans and sanitizes equipment using appropriate agents.



  • Familiarity and knowledge of dialysis water system, DOH regulations and dialysis.

  • Adhere to internal control established for department.

  • Collect water samples.

  • Perform water testing for chlorine.

  • Mix bicarb bath solution.

  • Record all work performed such as result of test. diagnosis and repairs.

  • Demonstrate concerns for cleanliness of self, tools, and work area.

  • Store and stock equipment safely and clearly dated.

  • Follows infection control guidelines as per Hemodialysis guidelines.

  • Ensure compliance with the Department of Health and the manufacture's recommendations for environmental standards.

  • Transport equipment.

  • Respond to equipment problems of home patients as needed.

  • Respond in a timely manner to all duties and task.

  • Set up bedside machines.

  • Be available to work on-call shifts as needed.

  • Perform related duties as required.






Required Qualifications:





  • High School Diploma.

  • Certification in Fresenius H/K/T Machines.

  • Certification in water treatment.

  • Experience working with RO system.

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
