About the Department

Summary

Federal Work Study Program students will generally perform jobs on the campuses of Johnston Community College.  Work Study students will always work under the direction of a supervisor. 

Position Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned depending on the hiring department.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Minimum:  Currently enrolled or will be enrolled for the upcoming semester as a JCC student. To be accepted in the Federal Work Study Program, a JCC student must be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours, in good academic standing (See Satisfactory Academic Policy on JCC website), and demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA information.

Experience Minimum:  No experience required. 

Other Qualifications

Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend English. Bi-lingual is a plus.   

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  

Computer Skills:  Some positions may require an individual to be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Blackboard.
