Be a part of a growing team at Dix Park! With the addition of the Thomas Dambo Trolls, the opening of Gipson Play Plaza, and a full calendar of programs and events, Dix Park is seeking dependable, energetic, and customer-focused team members to serve in a cross-trained operation and events role.
As a Guest Services Associate, you will be a welcoming, visible presence across the 308- acre campus, supporting daily park operations, facilities and rentals, and a wide variety of public programs and special events. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, engaging with the public, and contributing to memorable experiences for visitors of all ages.
Position Duties
• Greet visitors and share information on park amenities, activities, history, and wayfinding.
• Provide on-site support for various programs, events, and rentals.
• Ensure safety and compliance with park policies, including parkwide and Gipson Play Plaza rules.
• Assist with opening/closing duties, facility inspections, and event set up/breakdown.
• Operate Park Utility Vehicles (PUVs/golf carts) to support parkwide operations.
• Answer inquiries in person, by phone, and via email in a timely and professional manner.
• Serve as a point of contact for facilities during programs, rentals, and events.
• Assist with event execution including things like setting up and breaking down infrastructure (tents, tables, chairs, trash cans, etc.), waste management, volunteer lead, etc.
• Assist with parkwide operations including things like traffic/parking control, safe interactions with public art, etc.
• Assist with general cleanliness and organization of park facilities including refuse support, cleaning restrooms, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have experience working in a customer service setting. Experience in a recreation setting is a plus. This position requires the ability to move around and be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in hospitality, event management, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in customer service, event staff, or a similar role, preferably in a hospitality environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively and effectively with park visitors, renters, vendors, park staff, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team, to achieve common goals and objectives.
• Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate rental events and client needs.
• Proficiency in using computers and standard office software, including email, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
• Physical stamina and endurance to perform duties that may require lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
• Valid North Carolina Class C driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

• Previous experience with high-volume visitation operations
