Job Description:
The Retirement Specialist performs end-to-end processing of standard retirement cases and supports the development of complex cases. This role ensures accurate documentation, timely processing, and adherence to federal retirement regulations. Expertise in government retirement support services for annuity and non-annuity retirement cases, retirement coverage code (RCC), Federal Erroneous Retirement Coverage Corrections Act (FERCCA) cases in accordance with the applicable federal statues, OPM guidance and agency policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process non-annuity and standard annuity retirement cases
- Review retirement applications (e.g., SF-2801, SF-3107)
- Validate service computation dates (SCD) and employee records
- Support annuity calculations and case development
- Update case status in tracking systems
- Assist with RCC research and documentation
- Coordinate with Senior Specialists on complex issues
Experience Requirements:
- 2�4 years of federal HR or retirement processing experience
- Working knowledge of CSRS and FERS retirement systems
- Familiarity with federal personnel systems and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Bachelor�s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working in an office environment processing large volumes of complex transactions/cases and documents in an accurate and timely manner.
- Excellent analytical skills, communication skills, and excellent accounting reconciliation and certification skills for fast paced processing of retirement cases and verifying the accuracy of reported data.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office including WORD and EXCEL.
- Skilled in the use of office equipment, including but not limited to Copy/Scan machines and Microfiche machines and ten-key calculator.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal retirement regulations, especially those associated with retirement processing.
- Experience working in a team environment to achieve results and ensure customer satisfaction is delivered.
