Founded in 1980, Lecom Utility Contractors has grown to become one of Michigan’s premier power line and communication contractors. Lecom is a multi-million-dollar company that performs a range of contracting and installation services for energy and communication providers.
 
We are looking for an Underground Locator/Operator to join our growing team. This individual will be required to adhere to strict safety standards while ensuring the highest quality of work.
 
Responsibilities:  
  • Lead Directional Bore crew and assist training new hires 
  • Read and interpret blueprints and permits 
  • Adhere to all Federal, State, Local laws and permitting pertaining to each jobsite 
  • Locate the bore path for the Drilling equipment 
  • Preform daily maintenance on all jobsite equipment and vehicles 
  • Ensure proper bore rig set-up, & fluid mixing 
  • Able to properly attach product to be pulled in 
  • Able to accurately operate DCI tracking systems 
  • Able to locate and pothole necessary utility lines 
  • Demonstrate good judgment in the field 
  • Perform all duties adhering to company safety procedures and policies 
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience locating drill string and running crew 
  • Clean Insurable driving record 
  • Class A CDL preferred / chauffer’s license or CDL permit required before starting. Must obtain CDL within 90 days of hire. 
  • Must be willing to work overtime 
  • Must be team oriented and display leadership skills 
  • Exceptional knowledge of horizontal directional drills 
  • Positive attitude, hard work ethic, and a priority for safety. 
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
