    Job Description:
    Breckenridge Public Schools is seeking a knowledgeable, student-centered, and innovative High School Mathematics Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. Under the general supervision of the building principal, this educator will design and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that supports students in mastering algebraic, geometric, statistical, and advanced mathematical concepts.

    Responsibilities:

     
    • Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans that promote deep conceptual understanding and flexible mathematical thinking.
       

    • Teach a range of high school math courses (e.g., Algebra I/II, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, or other courses as assigned).
       

    • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning, provide feedback, and adjust instruction to meet diverse needs.
       

    • Integrate technology to enhance instruction, improve access to learning, and support data-informed decision making.
       

    • Design and facilitate problem-based and project-based learning opportunities aligned to real-world applications of mathematics.
       

    • Foster a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, perseverance, and student voice.
       

    • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, PLC work, MTSS supports, data analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
       

    • Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff members.
       

    • Stay current on research-based instructional practices, active classroom strategies, and the effective use of technology.
       

    • Support district goals and initiatives, including standards-based instruction and aligned assessment practices.
       

     

     

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

     
    • Strong knowledge of high school mathematical content and effective pedagogical approaches.
       

    • Ability to differentiate instruction for a wide range of learners, including students pursuing advanced coursework and those needing intervention or support.
       

    • Familiarity with or willingness to incorporate Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, and active classroom strategies.
       

    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, families, and staff.
       

    • Commitment to reflective practice, continuous professional growth, and collaboration.
       

    • Skilled in integrating technology (digital tools, platforms, and assessment systems) into instruction.
       

    • Creativity in designing learning experiences that incorporate community partnerships and authentic applications of mathematics.
       

     

     

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • Valid Minnesota Mathematics teaching license (5–12) or ability to obtain appropriate licensure.

    • Current certification or the ability to become certified to teach college in the schools is preferred.
