JOB PURPOSE: The Safety Supervisor is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations and company policies. This role partners with operations to identify hazards, implement preventative measures, and drive a culture of safety awareness and accountability across the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, covering topics such as proper equipment usage, emergency procedures, and hazard awareness.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Develop and update safety policies and procedures in collaboration with management, keeping them aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety by communicating regularly with employees, providing guidance on safe work practices, and encouraging active participation in safety initiatives.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure that all employees are trained to respond effectively to emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, and medical incidents.
- Lead or participate in the safety committee, fostering collaboration and engagement among members to address safety concerns and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required due to business needs; must be able to communicate fluently in both languages.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in plastics or packaging industry.
- Experience as a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) trainer or Train-the-Trainer, with the ability to deliver operator training, evaluations, and refresher instruction, is preferred.
- Ability to influence and motivate others to prioritize safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software for record keeping and data analysis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk on the production floor for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25–35 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to climb ladders, access elevated platforms, and work around large industrial equipment.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements as required while inspecting equipment or processes.
- Ability to visually inspect sheet quality, gauges, and instrumentation.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective footwear.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment that includes extrusion lines, thermoforming equipment, and material handling systems.
- The production floor may include elevated noise levels, moving machinery, and variable temperatures typical of plastics processing operations.
- The role requires regular time spent both in an office setting and on the manufacturing floor supporting production and troubleshooting processes.
- Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to support production issues, trials, or process improvements across different shifts.

This is a 2nd shift position that works from 3pm to 1am.
Monday through Friday
