Job Description







 


 


Job Goal:   Provides support, training and modeling of appropriate behavioral strategies for staff and students.


 


Classified position/ 190 days


 


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Minimum of five years experience working with students with behavioral needs in a professional capacity.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of behavioral principles and strategies.

  • Bachelors’ Degree or higher in education, counseling, psychology, sociology or related field. 

  • Certification/Licensure:  None required.

  • Proven organizational skills, effective oral, written communication and strong people skills.

  • Work successfully with other professionals.


 


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Prompt and regular attendance

  • Act as a resource person in the classroom and the school in addressing serious verbal and physical behaviors of students

  • Assist staff in applying strategies related to crisis intervention

  • Apply progressive verbal and non-verbal de-escalation strategies to effectively deescalate potentially serious behavioral incidents

  • Conduct and train in Functional Behavior Assessments

  • Assist in collecting data regarding student behavior and recommend appropriate behavioral strategies

  • Assist in developing successful behavior intervention plans and assist in their implementation

  • Provide follow up consultation to analyze success of behavior plans and assist with accommodations as needed

  • Present professional development for administrators, teachers, support staff and parents on behavior interventions

  • Complete required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner

  • Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by DEL

  • Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by the assigned supervisor or Superintendent of Schools


 


Physical Requirements:


Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.


 


Terms of Employment:


Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule.  Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.


 


Evaluation:


Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Department for Exceptional Learning.
