Job Description

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and owning site-wide quality performance, including the Quality Management System (ISO 9001), customer quality, supplier quality, and internal quality processes. This role ensures compliance to all applicable standards while driving measurable improvements in product quality, yield, and cost of poor quality.

The Quality Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for customer quality, including management of customer complaints, RMAs, and corrective actions, ensuring timely resolution and sustained corrective measures. This role partners cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to identify and eliminate root causes of defects, improve process capability, and ensure consistent product performance.

In addition to maintaining the QMS, this position drives a proactive quality culture by leading internal and external audits, developing robust inspection and process control strategies, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that support business objectives, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Ownssite-wide quality performance, including product quality, process capability, yield, and cost of poor quality (COPQ).
  • Leads the Quality team and laboratory operations, ensuring effective inspection, testing, and process control strategies across incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
  • Ownscustomer quality, including management of complaints, RMAs, and corrective actions; ensures timely response, root cause resolution, and prevention of recurrence.
  • Drives cross-functional problem solving with Operations and Engineering to identify root causes of defects and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Ensures effective implementation and utilization of SPC, defect tracking, and data systems to identify trends and proactively improve product quality.
  • Owns and maintains the document control system and QMS processes, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
  • Leads internal and external audits, including registrar and customer audits; ensures timely closure and effectiveness of findings.
  • Interprets customer specifications and requirements, ensuring alignment in manufacturing processes and inspection methods
  • Partners with Engineering to develop and improve product specifications, process controls, and inspection/test methods, ensuring manufacturability and quality standards are achieved.
  • Drives accountability in design and process changes to ensure risks are identified, mitigated, and validated prior to implementation.
  • Supports new product introduction and process changes, ensuring quality requirements are clearly defined, validated, and controlled.
  • Challenges and escalates quality risks related to product design, materials, and process capability when necessary to protect customer and business interests.
  • Utilizes data and root cause analysis to influence engineering decisions and improve long-term product and process performance
  • Provides quality leadership and direction to the organization, ensuring accountability for quality at all levels of the plant.
