The Inside Sales Representative-Plant Connection generates sales with new and existing customers by understanding their business, identifying their needs, pitching relevant products, and ensuring they have a positive experience.
Compensation: Non-exempt hourly pay, plus commission
Sales Region: Wisconsin – The Successful Candidate MUST live in the assigned territory
Travel: As needed to customer base and special events as required. Approximately 15-20% and is seasonally based.
Schedule: M-5, 8-5 with some flex
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages, develops, and grows the assigned territory by exhibiting a thorough knowledge of the industry, the customer’s business needs and product attributes.
- Identifies potential new customers through various channels, prepares sales materials and arranges meetings to introduce the company and its products.
- Keeps customers informed of market trends and associated product offerings.
- Serves as a profitability resource to customers by suggesting ways to reduce costs, increase margin or expand growing space.
- Submits and processes orders ensuring customers receive the products or services they require within the anticipated period.
- Provides effective follow-up contact with customers. Assesses the customer’s satisfaction with the product and service provided. Works with internal departments to resolve customer issues promptly.
- Participate in ongoing training and workshops and attend networking events to develop and maintain an understanding of industry trends, product knowledge, and network.
- Prepare reports and provides feedback in support of sales initiatives for management and marketing departments.
What you will need to succeed:
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or related field preferred.
- A knowledge of product line and a minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as a sales representative.
Competencies:
- Time management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong customer service mentality and a self-starter.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of products and make recommendations.
- Aptitude to develop positive relationships with customers.
- Ability to work with current sales representatives.
- Excellent Excel and general computer skills. (Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word).
- Travel required within assigned territory.
