Job Responsibilities


The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a Veteran Services Coordinator in the Veteran Student Success Center.  This role serves as a VA School Certifying Official (SCO) by reviewing, processing, and submitting enrollment certifications to the Department of Veterans Affairs in a timely and accurate manner. In addition, this role will be responsible for the following:



  • Responsible for confirming the accuracy of each student’s enrollment details, including the courses they are registered for, the number of credit hours, and the academic term or session dates.

  • Will work to identify any potential shortfalls in a student’s benefit entitlement that could affect their ability to continue their education and will contact students.

  • Responsible for adding all new students to the VA’s Enrollment Management system.

  • Maintain accurate records of certifications, adjustments, and student enrollment changes to ensure compliance with VA regulations and institutional policies.

  • Processes enrollment updates, schedule adjustments, and term corrections related to VA education benefits, while reviewing student records and supporting documentation to confirm eligibility and compliance with VA education benefit requirements.

  • Interprets and applies VA regulations to ensure proper reporting and ongoing institutional compliance.

  • Coordinates with campus departments such as the Registrar, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, and academic units to resolve discrepancies in student records and certification data.

  • Maintains required VA training and certification as mandated by the Department of Veterans Affairs, which may involve occasional overnight travel.


 


Minimum Qualifications



  • A bachelor’s degree AND progressive experience in Registrar, Financial Aid, or Student Services.

  • Ability to work with a diverse student population, including Veterans and Active-Duty service members.

  • Ability to coordinate with campus departments such as student accounts, financial aid, and academic units.

  • Experienced in working with enterprise data systems, databases, and student information systems to support administrative processes.

  • Some travel and occasional flexible hours may be involved depending on project needs.


 


Preferred Qualifications


Experience working in higher education, data processing, records management, or compliance-related administrative work is strongly preferred. Experience with Banner or similar database along with VA education benefits is preferred.
