Hicks Nurseries, the premier retail and wholesale garden center on Long Island, is looking for Receiving Team Members to join our team for the busy Spring season!!

This role is responsible for receiving and organizing inventory, preparing merchandise for the sales floor, and supporting overall warehouse operations while following safety and company protocols.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently receive and secure incoming inventory, following all company procedures
  • Unload delivery trucks safely and accurately
  • Price merchandise according to documented standards, including printing labels and tags
  • Stage inventory for the merchandising team to ensure items are shelf-, table-, or yard-ready
  • Warehouse inventory according to layout plans and organizational standards
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized receiving and warehouse spaces
  • Operate equipment and vehicles safely, including 4-wheel electric carts, stock chasers, and pallet jacks
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with customers and team members
  • Participate in product knowledge sessions and ongoing training opportunities

 

 

 

Requirements

Position Requirements:

High school degree 

 

Must be able to consistently lift 25-40 lbs. independently and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to push/pull wheeled carts of 400 lbs. consistently.

Must be able to safely operate equipment and vehicles such as electric carts, stock chasers, or pallet jacks.

Must be capable and willing to be trained on Hick's forklift equipment.

Ability to handle near-constant physical activity required, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, squeezing, and grasping.

Basic computer literacy

Attention to detail and able to juggle multiple tasks

Ability to communicate effectively in English – reading, orally, and in writing
