This person works closely with marketing peers and business development practitioners to create compelling messages that set our firm apart from the pack. Your work will help us plan, develop, execute on, and measure successful strategic marketing and business development initiatives. Role Overview

Reporting to the Marketing Manager of our Community Development business line, the Senior Marketing Specialist works directly with practitioners and leaders across North America. In this role, your work is critical to business development and proactively delivers on marketing campaigns, account plans, and strategic pursuits that grow our business. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and create written and visual content that elevates our brand.

The role includes working with a larger Stantec team of Marketing, Business Development, Public Relations, and Communications professionals to build our brand awareness and identify market opportunities for top line growth.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

Business Development/Account Management/Proposal Development:

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Stantec's Community Development business line, including markets, clients, capabilities, staff, and primary competitors
  • Cross-promotion of Stantec's service offerings where opportunities for the delivery of integrated services exist
  • Provide input and work closely with sector and regional business line leadership to support corporate and business line goals for revenue growth, profitability, and leadership in target markets
  • Partner with Marketing and PR to develop, execute, and measure success of annual marketing research, business plans, and marketing and PR plans.
  • Partner with business line leadership to develop key clients and “must win” projects targets
  • Partner with Account Managers to develop, maintain, and achieve Client Plan goals, which may include client research, surveys, presentations, marketing campaigns, and other activities to maintain and grow key client relationships
  • Work with business developers on target pursuits to drive and deliver upon Capture Plans, including win themes, research, marketing tactics, and teaming strategies that position us to win.
  • Act as the marketing lead or in supporting capacity for strategic proposal processes, including workflow coordination, go/no go assessments, teaming and qualifications strategy (e.g. identifying subject matter experts, external consultants, and technical contributors), other technical and compliant content needs, and/or peer review.
  • Provide marketing support related to client presentations, including strategizing on messaging, PowerPoint preparation, print collateral materials, and critiquing at dry runs.
  • Facilitate debrief meetings following project wins/losses

 

Brand Management/Promotions:

  • Proactively collaborate with Sector Marketing, Regional Marketing, and PR on key pursuits, promotional activities, market trends and research, and to share best practices.
  • Prepare high-impact proposals, presentations, and communications in alignment with the Stantec brand, including traditional and social media and conventional and emerging digital marketing tactics
  • Lead the development of targeted marketing content (e.g. blogs, video, webinars, website content, press releases, award submissions, announcements, etc.)
  • Lead quality control reviews for select marketing collateral with specific emphasis on brand alignment, relevance, accuracy, and timely delivery
  • Assess and present on results following the delivery of marketing campaign tactics.
  • Partner and lead coordination of promotional activities, including select national conference participation or industry award programs (e.g. call for speakers, call for submissions, targeted publications, promotional material, events, or delivering on sponsorship related benefits)

 

  • Marketing System Support/Leadership:
  • Working with end users, leverage our marketing and client management systems to achieve effectively in marketing-related projects and processes
  • Development of marketing content for Stantec's communications systems and tools, including the Stantec Marketing Knowledge Center (SMKC), stantec.com, Stantec Pipeline, The Lens, etc.
  • Promote the consistent use of Stantec systems in support of account management and business development efforts
  • Ensure all information entered the system is timely, accurate and up-to-date and in adherence with Stantec standards and style guides

Capabilities & Credentials

  • Work closely with technical project managers to create compelling messages that set our firm apart from the pack
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and business development best practices
  • Excellent interviewing, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Can work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and in conjunction with senior management/executive staff
  • Demonstrated proficiency with web-based tools and software applications, including but not limited to InDesign, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Working knowledge in the use Photoshop, Illustrator, and SharePoint is supportive, but not required
  • Willingness to learn new tools and processes to evolve effectively with our business, and awareness that some training may involve professional development courses
  • Awareness that attendance of trade and industry association events, and networking with marketing peers at our identified teaming partner firms could be required

 

Education and Experience

  • Post-Secondary in business, marketing, communications, public relations, or an equivalent level of experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a marketing role in a medium to large sized organization
