JOB SUMMARY: Stevens Transport TL (Brokerage Division) is seeking a Carrier Development Representative to support real‑time spot market growth for Truckload (TL) brokerage. This is a lead‑generation and capacity development role designed as a feeder path into a National Freight Broker position.
In this role, you will focus on outbound carrier outreach, relationship introduction, and qualification activities. Qualified carrier leads and capacity opportunities are transitioned to Freight Brokers for rate negotiation, load placement, and ongoing account management.
This position is ideal for high‑energy, entry‑to‑early‑career candidates interested in building a long‑term career in brokerage and transportation sales.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high‑volume outbound cold calls and emails to identify and engage independent motor carriers
- Support real‑time TL spot market growth through carrier sourcing and capacity generation
- Qualify carrier leads and document key details within internal systems
- Transition qualified carrier opportunities and capacity leads to assigned Freight Brokers
- Maintain accurate call notes, carrier profiles, and outreach activity in company systems
- Align outreach activity with brokerage demand and lane needs
- Partner closely with Freight Brokers to support load coverage success
- Meet daily and weekly activity benchmarks (calls, emails, qualified leads)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong follow‑through and time management
- Comfortable with high‑volume outbound phone and email activity
- Solid computer skills with accurate data entry
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- High level of initiative and coachability
Preferred Qualifications
- 0–2 years of sales, logistics, call center, or lead‑generation experience
- Interest in progressing into a Freight Broker or Carrier Sales role
- Exposure to transportation, logistics, or 3PL environments (preferred, not required)
