Module Lead – Production Planning (Plan to Produce)

Purpose

PP Module Lead will be part of the IT SAP Global Center of Excellence (IT SAP COE) for CONMED, which will be operational from India. This role is crucial in the overall IT SAP COE structure. The PP Module Lead is an expert in SAP (Specially in Plan to Produce Processes) responsible for setting and managing the organization's SAP IT landscape in alignment with business requirements of Production planning & execution, Warehouse and Quality functions. Candidate should have strong Cross Module knowledge and experience in supporting the overall SAP transformation journey. Ultimately, the role of the SAP PP Module Lead is to ensure the SAP PP system runs smoothly, effectively, and in line with business needs.

The PP Module Lead is responsible for driving SAP solution architecture and business design for Production planning & execution function, as well as strengthening the partnership with other Module Leads. Reporting to Solution Architect – Logistics, this role functions as the key contact person (SPOC) for the business team/On-Site IT Team for SAP-related matters, especially for Production department, Quality Department, Warehouse Department and MIS Department. This includes liaising between the IT SAP COE Team, Business Technology Partners, Business and professional services delivery resources, which include both in-house and partner-delivered services.

As a member of the IT SAP COE, the PP Module Lead will also be responsible for setting standards, defining best practices, and engaging in research and innovation. They will work on delivery projects, shaping SAP architectural design, and providing architectural quality assurance across multiple programs. This position must have mastery-level competency in the SAP Production Planning Module, Material Master Concepts and Warehouse Management Solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The SAP PP Module Lead will be responsible for driving SAP solution architecture and business design within the CONMED SAP COE. This role involves strengthening the COE team and ensuring the successful implementation of SAP solutions across the organization. This role will ensure solution design for end-to-end business processes as part of Production function.

  • Develop and enhance SAP solutions for Production Planning Processes - Lead the creation of new SAP landscape and Implementation of SAP by replacing existing non-SAP solutions / Business need. This includes defining scope and documenting business needs. Maintains a particular strength in finding what can be delivered out of the box and when it is fitting to use custom development. This is more related to aligning the business process. This role will define the entire flow between the integrated domains such as PP and CO, PP and QM, or PP and WM, PM and MM.

  • Define, design, and deliver SAP Process: Ensure a best practice design and implementation of SAP solutions for Procure to Pay Processes, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and secure. Ensure adherence to SAP architectural standards and best practices. Promote the adoption of SAP with the best practices and innovative solutions to improve business processes.
  • Support technical architecture analysis, research, design, and development: Support integration with key applications and services within the SAP ecosystem. Ensure the efficient and effective operation of SAP systems, including performance monitoring, optimization, and issue resolution.
  • Provide architecture and design guidance: Guide development and functional teams to configure and implement solutions according to SAP standards and best practices. Leverage common technical elements and avoid duplication of work. This also includes testing approach, data governance and Go Live activities.
  • Monitor the Progress of PP Module and Team Monitoring: Lead and manage PP Module ensuring all processes are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Ensure adherence to SAP’s documentation practices and standards.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders: Act as a liaison between IT team, Business Technology Partners, and SAP partners. Establish and enforce governance frameworks to ensure compliance with SAP standards and policies.
  • Maintain advanced level technical certification: Stay updated by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and taking part in professional programs.
  • Continuous monitoring and improvement: Monitor the system continuously and address both immediate and long-term issues. Identify potential issues and propose innovative solutions. Being a proactive leader by monitoring trends, identifying potential process improvements, understanding and education on modern technologies, impacting the Business group by driving transformational change using IT solutions.
  • Team building and mentorship: Take an active role in developing team members, acting as a mentor and coach

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Certification

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field to the area of responsibility
  • Advanced degree preferred (MBA)
  • Certification in SAP: Preferred (PP Module)

Experience

Must have 10+ years of overall SAP experience with strong functional knowledge of Production Planning Module. Minimum of 7 years prior experience in managing a large-scale SAP related programs in the capacity of Module Lead – for Plan to Produce (PP Module)

Key skills:

  • SAP S4/Hana – At least 2-3 Implementation Projects (Green Field or Migration)
  • Demonstrated expertise in SAP Production Planning (PP) module configuration and implementation for managing business processes including Production/Process orders, Capacity Planning, Material resource planning, sub-contracting, and reporting.
  • Should have designed Production Org Structure and delivered multi-dimensional reporting.
  • Knowledge of SAP PP Module, Knowledge of interaction between CO and other modules like SD, PP, QM, WM etc.
  • Should have worked on Complex Production scenarios, Machine interfacing
  • Global Experience in terms Production processes deployment
  • Deep knowledge of diverse areas of technology including ERP, Master Data  
  • Deep knowledge of SAP technical and functional architecture, data model along with new and emerging SAP capabilities
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or life science industry preferred.
  • Experience in fast-paced global multinational matrix organization
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence business team members / stakeholders and manage project teams.
  • Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources.
  • Should have designed or supported and managed ITGC tasks.
  • Should have managed Internal / External Auditors for sox compliance -ITGC
  • Team leadership skills to guide and manage a team of SAP professionals, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring project goals are met on time.
