Job Description

Ridgeview Classical Schools is seeking interested and qualified candidates for a part-time faculty position in the Mathematics Department. Ridgeview’s instruction in mathematics emphasizes a conceptual approach and cumulative retention. All pupils are given the opportunity to test into the highest level of mathematics in which they can reasonably be successful. Ridgeview is committed to a true liberal arts curriculum, meaning that arts and humanities are emphasized as much as mathematics and science. Consequently, many of the conversations that ensue in the classrooms are of a cross-disciplinary nature.

Ridgeview neither requires nor prefers candidates with a teacher certification and would rather solicit applications from individuals who have demonstrated academic mastery in the mathematics. Teaching experience is preferred but is not essential. Because this position will include primarily 7th and 8th grade core math classes, preference will be given to candidates with previous experience with Singapore mathematics. The schedule would include up to three classes and a Chambers group.

A complete application includes:

  • Résumé or CV.
  • Completed Ridgeview application (found on the Careers page of Ridgeview's website).
  • Letter of interest.
  • Copies of transcripts.
  • A one- to three-page written response to George Polya’s On Learning, Teaching, and Learning Teaching (found on the Careers page of Ridgeview's website).

Upon submitting a complete application, candidates may be contacted for an interview with the Department Head. Successful candidates will then be asked to conduct a mock teach and interview with a hiring committee. After this, final hiring decisions are made.
