Position Overview: The Music Teacher is responsible for teaching music theory, performance, and appreciation to students. This role includes planning and conducting music classes, performances, and promoting the importance of music education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver music curriculum for students.
- Teach students music theory, vocal techniques, and instrumental skills.
- Lead students in performances and music-related activities.
- Organize school concerts, recitals, and other music events.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback on musical development.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate music into the general curriculum.
- Foster a love of music and creativity in students.
- Maintain classroom materials and instruments in good condition.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field.
- Valid South Carolina teaching certification.
- Strong knowledge of music theory and performance.
- Experience in teaching both vocal and instrumental music.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment
This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.
FLSA Classification
This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
