About the Department

The School of Education at the University of Louisiana Monroe is seeking an innovative and involved tenure track faculty member to teach undergraduate/graduate courses and coordinate the secondary education program.  This person should value improving student academic achievement through teaching, service, as well as scholarship and research.  The successful candidate will join a dedicated faculty and leadership team working to enhance the quality of education in Louisiana and nation-wide.

Position Duties

  • Teach undergraduate/graduate level courses in Curriculum & Instruction (face-to-face and online)
  • Maintain a course load of 12 credit hours (or its equivalent) in teaching in the fall and the spring semesters 
  • Advise students
  • Maintain 10 office hours per week (including 2 hours online)
  • Coordinate the Secondary Education Program
  • Maintain data and complete reporting requirements for program effectiveness and accreditation.
  • Lead and collaborate with program faculty to maintain courses, meet accreditation requirements, and submit required programmatic reports
  • Engage with ongoing scholarly activities, including grants and research to improve the education of P-12 students and teacher candidates
  • Facilitate, initiate and/or support recruitment for education programs both internally and externally to the university.
  • Promote collaboration across programs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or related field; ABD considered if expected degree completion within semester hired
  • Expertise in secondary education.
  • Experience in higher education/teaching 
  • Evidence of successful scholarly research
  • Experience in or potential for pursuing external research funding
  • Commitment to collaboration with colleagues, schools, and education agencies
  • Ability to work in a team environment
