The Crane Operator is responsible for operating mobile or stationary cranes to lift, move, position, or place materials and equipment at construction sites. This role requires a strong focus on safety and precision, working in collaboration with other site personnel to ensure that loads are handled efficiently and securely.
Duties and responsibilities
- Operate cranes (mobile, tower, or overhead) to lift, move, and position heavy materials at construction sites.
- Inspect crane equipment daily to ensure it is functioning properly and report any mechanical issues.
- Determine load weights and ensure they are within crane capacity limits.
- Maneuver loads safely and efficiently, following hand signals, radio commands, and job instructions.
- Maintain accurate records of materials moved, equipment performance, and safety checks.
- Follow all safety protocols to prevent damage to property or injuries on the job site.
- Collaborate with riggers, signalers, and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to construction plans, blueprints, and schedules to complete tasks on time.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a crane operator in the construction industry.
- Valid NCCCO certification or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of crane safety protocols, hand signals, and load limits.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret load charts and blueprints.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Valid TWIC Card
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical requirements
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate cranes for extended periods.
· Capacity to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Physical stamina to handle the demands of operating large cranes.
