Job Description

As an Environment, Health & Safety Coordinator you will play a key role in supporting Irving Oil’s commitment to a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. Your goal will be to enhance a proactive culture of safety by partnering with leaders and team members to promote best practices, mitigate risk, and continuously improve environment, health and safety performance. Your success will be measured by your ability to influence, educate, and collaborate while supporting compliance and operational excellence across the business.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Partner with leaders and employees to enhance a strong culture of safety, health, and environmental awareness

  • Provide guidance and support on EHS programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with regulatory and corporate requirements

  • Participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, and root cause analyses, recommending preventative and corrective actions

  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS initiatives and programs

  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and assessments to identify hazards and opportunities for improvement

  • Assist with safety training, education, and engagement initiatives across the organization

  • Monitor EHS performance, trends, and leading indicators, preparing reports and recommendations for stakeholders

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support environmental compliance and sustainability efforts

Your Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety principles, legislation, and best practices

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence without authority

  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced operational environment

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with environment, health and safety management systems is considered an asset

Your Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Environment, Health & Safety or a related field

  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional and/or Certified Health & Safety Environmental Professional designation is an asset

  • Relevant experience in environment, health and safety roles within an industrial, operational, or energy-related environment
