Nursing Full-Time Faculty – Community Health Nursing

Candidate is expected to teach 24 – 30 credit hours per academic year in addition to other responsibilities (12 – 15 credit hour academic workload per semester)

Position Details

This position is a full-time, on-ground appointment in the Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions. The position includes teaching in both the classroom and lab environment, along with helping to coordinate clinicals. The candidate will be expected to participate in university and community service. Candidate will be required to maintain moderate engagement in scholarly and service commitments outside of the regular teaching appointment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Faculty member must have:

  • Expertise in Community/Public Health Nursing and Medical/Surgical Nursing.
  • The ability to teach cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills required by the community health nursing specialty
  • The ability to operate high-fidelity mannikins, or willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to high expectations and academic standards for teaching
  • Fluency or ability to learn a variety of educational software programs
  • Ability to provide student support and guidance throughout the twelve-month calendar year for registration and advising to ensure the academic success of students
  • Competency-based education knowledge
  • Excellent professional communications skills
  • Excellent oral, written and listening skills

Experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • 2 – 5 years minimum in Community/Public Health clinical setting, preferably experience is current or very recent. Strong clinical nursing skills in medical/surgical nursing is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience teaching in an academic or equivalent educational setting such as clinical teaching in healthcare settings
  • Experience teaching in a hybrid environment is helpful but not required
  • Ability to provide diverse instructional strategies including simulation

Qualifications

Unencumbered TN Nursing license

Education

Required: MSN

Preferred: DNP/PhD

Requires excellence in teaching, scholarship and service
