Job Description : Manager of Accounting - Part-time, 28 Hours Weekly


The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing payroll processes and supporting the organization’s general accounting operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, and helps strengthen internal financial systems as Lumera continues to grow.


Key Responsibilities


Payroll Management

  • Oversee and process payroll for all employees in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Manage payroll tax reporting and filings
  • Coordinate with Human Resources regarding employee compensation, benefits deductions, and payroll changes
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Prepare financial reports and assist with financial analysis as needed
  • Reconcile bank accounts, payroll accounts, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Ensure accurate financial documentation and record keeping in accordance with accounting standards
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and internal controls
  • Collaborate with leadership to support financial decision-making


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience managing payroll and general accounting functions
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information

Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare or behavioral health accounting
  • Experience with payroll systems and accounting software
