Job Description

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Nurse Director, the CNC is responsible for the direction and coordination of all functions in the unit during his/her shift to include ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care provided. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator is the resource for the staff assisting with educational needs as they arise; they are responsible for the overall quality of nursing care while on duty; decisions are made in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team following Standards of Nursing care, Human Resources and Mon Health policies and procedures. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will support the mission and vision of Mon Health System.

Responsibilities

General/ Problem Solving: Supervises personnel providing direct patient care while effectively addressing issues and solving problems utilizing professional judgement. Provides direct and ongoing supervision of staff including conflict resolution. Manages stressful situations in an appropriate manner while modeling a calm demeanor.

Clinical Excellence: Facilitates ongoing performance improvement activities while working with the team to maintain high standards of care including compliance with Core Measures. Collects and reports data as assigned including audit s and patient rounds. Conducts daily environment of care review to ensure compliance with TJC standards. 

Employee Engagement/Physician Engagement: Leads, coaches, develops, and recognizes staff to maximize performance and growth. Manages staff in a competent manner promoting high employee morale Leads Peer Panel interviews for staff positions making recommendations to Director/designee.

Service Excellence: Leads by example holding staff accountable the ICARE values, behavior, and attitudes. Participates in Nurse Leader Rounding on the unit, leads shift huddles. Validates staff competence of Must Haves: AIDET, Hourly Rounding, Bedside Shift Report, Communication Board completion.
 

Finance: Maintain effective utilization of staff resources managing productivity, equipment and supplies. Validates appropriate staffing levels/skill mix in accordance with volume/care demands. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Minimum of 2 years clinical experience on unit; leadership/management experience preferred. Continued demonstration of clinical and leadership competency. Commitment to understanding staffing matrix/acuity and productivity standards. Commitment to unit goals, patient safety initiatives, and positive patient experience/service excellence. Must demonstrates good organizational skill, provide and support safe and appropriate patient care; Must utilizes good judgment and superior problem-solving skills with positive and professional communication with internal and external customers.

Light Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. with a maximum lifting of 25 lbs. 

 

Education 

Associate’s Degree

Substitution: May substitute completion of a formal nursing program in lieu of an Associate’s Degree.

Credentials 

• Registered Nurse (Required)
• Basic Life Support (Required) Issued by the American Heart Association, are required during the orientation period. Issued by the American Heart Association, are required during the orientation period.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required) Issued by the American Heart Association, are required during the orientation period. Issued by the American Heart Association, are required during the orientation period.

 

Work Schedule: Nights

Status:  72 hrs per pay
