SECU is currently looking for qualified students to join our 2026 Summer Internship Program. As an Intern, you will have significant learning opportunities on day-to-day projects in specific departments within SECU, while gaining exposure to the credit union and banking industry, as a whole. Our Summer Internship Program will run from June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026. The ideal candidate must be able to work 30-32 hours a week during core hours of Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00 pm.

What you will do as a Legal Intern under the supervision of our General Counsel:

  • Prepare draft responses to simple legal contracts and account review matters
  • Draft template letters and contracts to speed up future legal operations.
  • Legal research on estates and trusts issues and regulatory interpretation issues
  • Organizing legal files, data, and workflow for improved operations
  • Take on discrete legal research tasks and write legal memos to file to support SECU operations, with the goal of at least one significant research and writing project that would not be privileged or confidential so that the intern can use it as a writing sample in the future.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate Student or JD Student
  • At least one or more of the following coursework: Legal Research and Writing, Civil Procedures, Torts, Contracts, Secured Transactions
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work with sensitive information of a legal nature.

Hourly Rate: $17 per hour

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
