At Network for Hope (NFH), we are dedicated to saving and enhancing lives through organ, tissue, and eye donation. As a Clinical Responder, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all eligible organ referrals receive timely evaluation and follow-up. You will conduct onsite assessments of potential donors, collaborate with healthcare teams, and facilitate communication to support the donation process. This position requires clinical expertise, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Response & Evaluation
- Completes timely onsite response to the donation service area hospitals for viable organ referrals, understanding the presence is vital to NFH's mission.
- Conducts chart reviews and determines medical suitability for donation in conjunction with other clinical personnel.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to develop a plan for referral management from initial referral through declaration of death or DCD evaluation.
- Informs hospital staff on progression of referral process.
- Understands and accurately maintains proper donor information and charting documentation during the referral assessment process to maintain organizational records.
- Aids with process complaints/concerns and other customer service issues effectively and assists in corrective actions concerning errors, accidents and/or complain.
- Consults with designated organ administrator on call (AOC), Family Support Liaison (FSL) staff as needed in a timely manner.
- Acts with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Stakeholder Support & Relationship Building
- Builds relationships with stakeholders and delivers customer service with the highest level of excellence to all individuals within and outside of NFH during routine as well as stressful situations
- Promotes organ and tissue donation and a positive image of NFH.
Qualifications
Education: Some post-secondary education is required. An associate degree in allied or health science or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience: Two years of experience in a medical/critical care field or OPO required. Experience as Medical Technologist, Nursing Assistant, Unit Secretary or similar, EMT, Paramedic, or RRT preferred. Competence in electronic medical records (EMR) is required. This role is highly dependent on technology and necessitates experience with computer-based documentation, Microsoft systems, and medical charting and terminology. The ability to communicate effectively and professionally, as well as provide exemplary customer service is required.
