The primary role of the RecWell Boiler Kids Camp (BKC) Counselor – Student Service position is responsible for the safety and well-being of campers during camp operational hours. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a professional environment. This position should work 35 hours per week during the Summer 2026 semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. A BKC Counselor position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven.

Work Week: 35 to 40 hours per week
*Required hours may include days and evenings.
Qualifications:
Previous work experience with camps or working with children preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
Customer service oriented
Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
Ability to work independently and with a team
Be timely and organized
Core Competencies
Position Responsibilities
Supervise children ranging from 5 years old to 12 years old in age specific groups throughout the course of the summer
Serve as role models for campers
Actively participate in all camp activities
Encourage campers to participate in all camp activities
Organize and lead small and large group activities
Effectively communicate and collaborate with other counselors
Inform the Coordinators and Assistant Director of Camps of any problems, issues, or concerns
Appropriately respond to and resolve camper behavioral issues
Acknowledge and support staff and campers with unique and differing backgrounds and needs

Students employed in this role will develop and demonstrate a number of transferable skills essential for future employment success and be reviewed on these skills in their performance evaluation.
