Description

The Fairfield Y is seeking a dedicated Child Watch Attendant to supervise children in our Child Watch Program. This role supports the Y’s mission of fostering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. As a Child Watch Attendant, you will create a welcoming, safe, and positive environment for children, while adhering to YMCA values and safety guidelines.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and ensuring the safety of children at all times.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized program area.
  • Building positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Enforcing YMCA policies and procedures, including safety and child abuse prevention.
  • Attending required training sessions and meetings.

Requirements

  • Experience: Prior experience working with children preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication, adaptability, and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Certifications: CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required (can be completed upon hire).
  • Training: Must complete YMCA onboarding and safety training within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to frequently lift 25 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs., and work in moderate to high noise levels.
